year one - anniversary

A card came in the mail the other day. It was a “Happy Halloween” card. Scribbled in by one of Norah’s relatives was, “Happy Anniversary.”

I said to Norah, “Hey, Norah. Apparently it’s the anniversary of Halloween.”

“No, you moron,” she said. “It’s OUR anniversary. Of our wedding. Remember? You were a bee who for some reason had a pitchfork, and I wore a tiara and wings, inexplicably.”

“What wedding?” I asked. “I remember some kind of costume party, and someone gave me a shovel. Great God, did I marry YOU?”

Apparently I had. She showed me heaps of evidence. There was some kind of certificate, lots and lots of poorly-taken photos, and this website, which I had apparently made. I had absolutely no recollection of any of it.

“Well, I guess we need to celebrate.”

Happy Anniversary, from everyone at Benningan's! Happy Anniversary from everyone at Benningans!

Norah and Aaron celebrated their joyous anniversary at October 30, 2005. They celebrated over fine wine and delicious delights at one of the nicest restaurants in DC. After their extravagant meal they took in an opera and never had such a glorious night.

Ok, so maybe not.

Norah and Aaron celebrated their amazing first wedding anniversary on October 30, 2005. Aaron surprised Norah by whisking her away on a belated honeymoon. Under the clear Caribbean sky Aaron renewed his vows of undying love and gifted Norah with the secrets of all mankind.

So, that didn't happen either.

Norah and Aaron celebrated their incredible first wedding anniversary on October 30, 2005. Norah had to work at the comic shop until 6:00, so they decided to celebrate earlier in the week when they both had some time off. And who better to celebrate with than their dark lord, Lucifier Morningstar, the most beautiful of angels, whose fall saddened even God?

And by celebrating with our dark lord we actually mean carving pumpkins and getting really smashed, but I think that's a celebration that Lucifer could get behind. Besides, those pumpkins were really kick ass.

Yeah, gin and jack-o-lanterns. That’s how we rung in the new year…of marriage.

We thoroughly documented it with our car-sized, molasses slow camera. Check it all out.
