proposal

I picked Norah up from class on Thursday, January 15th, in the afternoon. As she got into the car, I handed her the ring, and said, "Here. I got you this ring. You wanna get married?"

She said yes, then we went and squandered our financial aid on a new couch.

Later, when I told Joe we got engaged, he asked why I picked that random Thursday. "Well," I said, "that was the day I had off this week."

I stood quietly waiting for Aaron to pick me up from a truly dreadful round of classes last Thursday. It was one of those days that makes me miss working at Holden's dreadfully.

Anyway, I was standing by the curb waiting for the car. Just as I was standing there, ready to whip out my cell phone to complain about the lack of ride I was receiving, Aaron pulled up. I jumped into the car to be presented with two dozen lavender roses. I was overcome with shock from the out-pouring of flowers. Just as I began to recover Aaron turned the radio down to a level that allowed us to speak to one another and said:

This is pretty close to how it went.

"There's enough hate in my heart for both of us."

"Norah I love you more than I ever thought possible. Will you please marry me? I know I am not worthy of your shiny brilliance, but I fear without you I will fade away into the glare of nothingness."

After hearing this proposal I could do nothing but say "Yes," which was quickly followed by, "I still won't have sex with you this month."
